Skidmore University did research and survey to find out which time is best to work out. To find out this data, University officials took 27 women and 20 men.

All of the participants will have to perform a regular exercise regime that attains 4 different exercise routines like Stretching, Endurance training, Interval Sprints, and band resistance training.

They all have to perform the workout 4 times a week and one hour each time. All the participants are divided into 2 categories. One of the groups follows the workout between 6:30-8:30 a.m. and the other group follows the routine workout between 6:00 pm and 8 pm. 

What’s the Best Time of Day to Exercise?

Morning Group 

Women who follow morning routines have a 7%greater loss of belly fat and also feel a larger reduction in blood pressure. They also get greater leg strength. 

Evening Group 

Women who follow the evening routine have a greater increase in upper body strength, power and endurance, and mood improvement.

Men also feel improved heart health, metabolic health, and emotional well-being. Also, men feel greater weight loss and reduction in blood pressure. 

Digging the Deep

Some of the previously done studies that looked into the time-dependent effect of exercise were not considered consistent with the results.

It was also found that men who work out in the morning had greater weight loss and some recent studies also find that men who exercise in the morning have improved metabolic health and better insulin sensitivity. 

Some other research is also done that gives considerable statements regarding workout timing. They also conclude that the molecular levels of the human body are quite similar depending on whether someone works out in the morning or the evening. 

The role of sleep 

Researchers and medical professionals provide a possible explanation that women tend to spend longer in the deep sleep stage. This is the reason women are comparatively more active and alert during work out.

Women are always ready to exercise in the morning. But, this doesn’t conclude that men do not prefer to exercise in the morning. Plenty of men prefer to exercise in the morning as well. 

There is a myth a lot of people believe that working out late at night will affect sleep quality. This is one of the biggest myths regarding sleep and exercise. Various studies confirm that exercise improves sleep quality and helps you to sleep. 

People who prefer to work out in the morning generate a higher range of levels of cortisol. This helps to burn off the stress level in the body.
