Dr. Wong Lu Yang, the now-suspended president of Junior Chamber International (JCI) Kota Bharu, has publicly apologized to his wife following a personal scandal that cost him his leadership role in the youth organization.
In a heartfelt video statement, the well-known aesthetic clinic owner revealed that he and his family had been bombarded with “videos and photos” for several months before the controversy exploded online. He admitted that he had already come clean to his wife during that time, choosing honesty over secrecy, and sought her forgiveness.
“I chose to be transparent with my partner and ask for her forgiveness. Together, we decided to rebuild our marriage and family,” Wong shared.
Suspension Follows Legal Action
While expressing gratitude to his wife for giving him “another chance,” Dr. Wong acknowledged that legal proceedings have already begun. He urged the public to allow space for both families involved and promised that “those responsible will be held accountable.”
On the same day, JCI Kota Bharu officially suspended him, stressing that the matter was entirely personal and unrelated to the organization’s mission. Leadership has since been handed over, on an interim basis, to the immediate past president, Tan Zhi Qian.
The ‘BMW Doctor’ Scandal Sparks Online Frenzy
Nicknamed the “BMW Doctor” after his alleged affair came to light in a BMW 330e, Wong also runs DW Aesthetic by Medicure Klinik in Tanah Merah. His fondness for luxury cars had once been a source of admiration online, especially after he proudly showcased his BMW X4 purchase years ago.
But now, the scandal has triggered a storm on social media. The backlash grew so intense that JCI Kota Bharu had to release a statement asking netizens to stop spamming and attacking their pages, warning that such behavior undermines their spirit of volunteerism and community service.
On Facebook, Wong hinted at being targeted, claiming he refused to “compromise or give in to blackmail,” while also expressing deep regret that his wife had to endure emotional pain “a second time.”
Family Requests Privacy
Both Wong and his wife have appealed for privacy, urging the public not to involve their children or family members in the ongoing controversy.
