The Cameroon police force is in the eye of a storm, as a jaw-dropping sex scandal of historic proportions shakes the very foundations of its institution. Dubbed by insiders as a case of “institutional pornography,” the controversy has thrust senior officers into the spotlight—accused of engaging in and recording acts involving lesbianism and voyeurism within official premises.
At the heart of this scandal is Divisional Commissioner Josué Ossomo, who, at the time, served as the head of police for the Centre region. He is accused of personally filming explicit scenes from inside an official office on Friday, June 25, 2025. The leaked footage, which has spread like wildfire across social media, reportedly features police officer Christelle Eboa, on active duty at Yaoundé’s Central Police Station No. 1, along with another unidentified police commissioner.
Outspoken journalist Paul Chouta didn’t hold back in his criticism. He described the scandal as symbolic of a “Republic groaning under its own collapse,” and called it a mirror of deep-rooted hypocrisy within public institutions.
Swift Fallout and Fierce Backlash
Public outrage was immediate, with many calling this a massive betrayal of public trust. In the wake of the scandal, the General Delegate of National Security, Martin Mbarga Nguelé, took decisive action. Commissioner Josué Ossomo was dismissed and replaced by Emmanuel Mbiti Alinda, who himself now faces arrest over public indecency and has been stripped of his duties.
Further reports confirm that Christelle Eboa and her alleged partner are currently being held at Groupement Mobile d’Intervention n°1 (GM1) in Yaoundé, pending investigation.
What began as a leaked video has now exploded into a full-blown institutional crisis. Internet users and analysts alike have described the incident as a scandalous display of moral decay and professional misconduct, tarnishing the already fragile reputation of the Cameroonian police force.
