A shocking incident in San Antonio, Texas, has left many outraged after a teenager was caught on Snapchat stealing a necklace from a deceased man lying in a ditch. The victim, later identified as Marcus Adams, was determined by medical examiners to have died by suicide.
Before authorities even discovered his body, 17-year-old Bethany Martin and a 16-year-old friend came across the scene. Rather than alerting the police immediately, Martin made the reckless decision to remove a chain from the lifeless man’s neck—an act that was recorded and shared on social media.

According to police reports, the two teens admitted to discarding the chain in a nearby grassy area, but the 16-year-old held onto the pendant, later attaching it to a gold necklace of her own. When they eventually contacted the police, they initially failed to mention the theft. However, after investigators obtained video evidence of the crime, the younger girl turned over the stolen jewelry, which has since been returned to Marcus Adams’ family.
As a result of the viral video, Bethany Martin was arrested and charged as an adult with felony theft from a human corpse or grave. She was later released on a $2,000 bond. Meanwhile, her 16-year-old accomplice faces the same charge but remains unnamed due to her status as a minor.
The disturbing video of the incident has been widely circulated online, sparking heated discussions about morality, social media influence, and criminal responsibility.
