NCRTC Confirms Video Date and Launches Internal Review
The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), which operates the RRTS Namo Bharat network, confirmed that the video is from November. Officials clarified that the individuals seen in the clip are not employees of the corporation.
An NCRTC official stated that an internal investigation was initiated after the video surfaced online. “The footage dates back to last month. Certain actions have already been taken, and awareness campaigns are also being planned to educate commuters about proper behavior on public transport,” the official said.
Footage Recorded on Mobile, Not Released Officially
According to NCRTC authorities, the video was not extracted from official CCTV records. Instead, it was reportedly recorded on a mobile phone and later shared across social media platforms.
In the clip, the couple can be seen seated inside a train coach, with automated announcements clearly audible in the background. Another passenger is also visible sitting a few rows away, indicating that the incident occurred during regular service hours.
Ghaziabad Police Begin Preliminary Investigation
Senior officials from the Ghaziabad police confirmed that a preliminary inquiry has been initiated. The local station house officer has been directed to coordinate with NCRTC officials to gather further information regarding the incident and the circulation of the video.
Surendra Nath Tiwary, Deputy Commissioner of Police for the rural zone, stated that NCRTC has not submitted any formal complaint so far. “No written complaint has been received from the transport authority, and no passenger has come forward to report the incident,” he said.
No FIR Filed So Far
Authorities have confirmed that, as of now, no First Information Report (FIR) has been registered. This is due to the absence of any official complaint from commuters or the operating authority.
However, police are examining how the footage was leaked and whether any legal or regulatory violations occurred in the process of recording or sharing the video.
NCRTC’s Role and Limitations
While NCRTC enforces strict operational and behavioral guidelines for passengers, the corporation does not have the authority to impose legal penalties in such cases. The standard procedure requires such matters to be referred to law enforcement agencies for further action if necessary.
